July Update

July Update

July has been a busy month. In some ways I feel like I am spinning my tires, in others I feel like I am doing ALL THE THINGS!

One thing I started this past month that I am super excited about is doing a weekly livestream from my studio. This month’s Behance Beauty was built almost entirely on weekly livestreams. It has been so awesome to receive live feedback, and to hear from everyone who is checking them out. Last week’s session was really active, and it was so amazing to have the lovely viewers chime in with their feedback and ideas. They really helped to bring this lady to what she is today. I will be finishing off this month’s beauty this Thursday at 7:00ET, if you want to check it out we will all be here.

The energy that I have after each of these sessions is amazing! It adds a new dynamic to what I work on every day, but also holds me to some deadlines. The bit of added collaboration while I work is so much fun. It’s also challenging me to learn how to talk and create at the same time. I am still trying to decide if I want to keep working on a huge month long project, or if want to use the livestreams for smaller projects. Maybe I can try to do a smaller piece from start to finish, or do something over two weeks instead of four. I am going to put it out to my viewers and followers this week, but if you have an opinion I would love to hear from you.

Beyond the livestreams, I have been working on quite a few commissions for both knitted and art projects. I’ll be sharing those around when we get to a final state.

Wow, it doesn’t sound like much, but a lot of progress is being made. For the most part July feels like another transition month, one where I am shuffling somethings around to see where they best fit. I could do some serious damage with a 30 hour day.

Thanks for checking in! I would appreciate you participating in the livestream this Thursday, bring a sketchbook, a snack and a beverage. Also make sure to check back in here next week to see the final product of this month’s Behance Beauty.

Before you go…

Here’s a few things I have enjoyed this month:

  • I started an Outlander reading marathon. One book (from where I left off) a month until the launch of the new one. My reading pace has completely ground to a halt as each book is 1000+ pages, but it’s a series that has been literally staring at me while I sleep. It was time, and I am stoked.
  • Podcast: Drama Queens! This had just started at the end of last month, but I am enjoying every single episode. If you are a One Tree Hill fan, I do definitely recommend. So many of my friends are listening so it is so great to compare notes.
  • Olympics and snacks. Yup!
  • Knitting with Leo & Roxy’s marled sock kits. It looks like it should be scratchy, but it is sooooo soft. I finished a pair of socks and immediately cast on a matching hat with the leftovers. Keep an eye on the socials for more.
  • Making It! – This show is so fun and heart warming. If you want a creative reality series where everyone is helping each other and having fun, this is the one for you.
